That can be done after the ONLY other suit that gets a bonus to it gets fixed first. And then from there we can make the Scr viable on non-Amarr Assault/Commando suits. Amarr assault does it better and more versatile. 2 anything the amarr commando can do with a scrambler rifle,the assualt can do better. 3 innate damage bonus to lasers? The amarr assult does have THREE HIGH slots. And the scrambler/laser rifle do more than enough damage to sheilds and a little too much to armour. Face it. The way the scrambler rifle is now with its heat buildup theres no point spending 3mill rough sp to get proto commandos. Lower the heat buildup and damage of the scrambler and maybe we'll have a use for the amarr commando other than being a pretty ornament/blue moon. Because the scrambler just isnt suited to the suit bonus anymore. No suit other than the assult is able kill anything over 500 arnour and not overheat.
Speaking as a person who has had amarr commando at 5 since they didn't even have *slots*, this probably makes me one of maybe ten people who had amarr commando at max level at that time, and as someone who used to play with Aero Yassavi - the original amarr commando - quite often.
The Amarr commando is really ONLY restricted by the weapons available to it (and the fact that the assault uses ONE of those weapons better than a commando at a time). Amarr commando is actually quite durable and rather strong, though it suffers in the repair department, using both a laser rifle and a scrambler rifle the amarr commando is an INCREDIBLY versatile 'all ranges' fighter (surpassing what ANY other commando can do).
Yes the Amarr assault can do similar damage up until the point that the commando has to stop firing and only surpasses the commandos output afterwards, but it lacks the extreme reloading speed (on weapon types that do require frequent reloading) and moreover it lacks the versatility the commando has. An amarr assault using a laser rifle is predictable, it has to stay at its 'safe' range, an amarr commando can fire the laser rifle while closing with its target then switch over to a scrambler and melt them there.
It would be beneficial for ALL amarr dropsuits to have new light, heavy and sidearm weapons introduced (preferably one or two that don't have 'heat' as a major mechanic), rather than having to tweak constantly because of the bonuses on a single suit.
The only 'tweak' that I currently feel the amarr commando requires is slightly increased cpu/pg.

No I wasn't, I only got it to level five shortly before it was buffed (from 250/250 to 325/325) in 1.6
